so simple, but not exact, March 15, 2011

We just returned from camping in this tent. Initially time out of the box I reflect we had the thing set up in under two summary. It could easily be done in 60 seconds or less next time. It reminds me of background up our graco pack and play. I LOVED the way it set up! I was really surprised that it comes down just as simple. Fitting it back in the first bag took a couple summary, but not any more than additional tents we’ve had.
Even if, I was surprised by a few things left off. There are only two modest pockets inside the tent on the side parapet. I probable to find a sack in the roof too. So we had to crawl over each additional if you wanted car keys early in the morning, etc. There were only two tiny roof vents. If you camp in summer I reflect this tent would get hot. In my opinion the largest mix was there is no way to tie the windows open. THe are made so you can kind of tuck them in themselves, but that didn’t work even in our light breeze. We tried sleeping with the windows open but the unzipped windows were flapping aptly at face level (on air mattresses). We tried sleeping with them half open, but the constant flapping could handbook you nuts. So we slept with the completely clogged. This was fine because it was cool, but I would not urge the tent for summer because of that. Even if, if you despise the set up and tear down, this tent is incredible.
We had one queen and two twin air mattresses. This tent was a forceful squeeze for us, but we were able to fit. I reflect it is a modest less vital than our last 6 self tent. We are inane to return it for the 8 self so we won’t be so squished next time. Also, the 8 self appears to have much longer windows. I reflect that they will be long enought to lay on the floor and then set a duffle or something on top of the dialogue box flap. THat must keep the windows from flapping in our face all night. Also, the larger windows would help to keep the tent cooler for summer camping.
We had only a very light rain one morning and stayed dry. I have no thought how it would do in heavier rain.

    Who likes intricate and confusing?
When I go camping, the “background up & taking down” of my tent is the part that sucks. Really sucks.
This tent is incredible. The day it showed up, I took it out of the box and set it up (just me – no one selection) in under a minute (not counting the stakes)!!
You just unfold it, proffer the legs, and walk in. How awe-inspiring is that?
Don’t judge me? Check Youtube. Type in “Second Tent”, look for the one with a girl in a sharp golden-haired KOA shirt. That’s the video that sold me on this tent.

It has LOTS of ventilation. the 2 sides have a large dialogue box, the back has a HUGE dialogue box. The front has a dialogue box in the door, and a dialogue box next to the door. Did I mention there are two roof vents? Yup. The roof vents have zippers on them, and a rigid “prop” thing. There’s velcro on the top flap, on the top of the prop, and on the underside of the prop (the underside of the prop is sewn to the tent as well). You can open the roof vents from the inside by unzipping the screen and raising the prop. To close it you simply decrease the prop, and velcro the top flap to the underside of the prop.
I know, that’s alot of info for something as trivial as a vent. BUT, I thought it was a very nice map, and haven’t seen it mentioned in any reviews or videos.

The windows. HUGE! I mean huge in a HUGE way! You can get bounty of air flow. When you open the windows, it’s like having the whole top half of your tent as ventilation.
A note about the windows – when you open them, the flap hangs inside your tent. I’ve read reviews everywhere broadcast complained about this. Well guess what. If you leave each zipper zipped up about four inches, rather than completely open, you make a sack of sorts, between the mesh and the fabric parts of the windows. Just stuff the flap into this modest sack, and call it excellent.

NO RAINFLY. I sprayed the tent with a backyard hose. I mad it “rain” on top of the tent, and it also “rained” sideways all the way nearly. No leaks. I was concerned about the top vents, but no fill up got in.

When it’s time to take down your tent, fold it up as instructed, then roll it, on the ground, just like a sleeping bag. Just keep rolling it until you get the air squeezed out. Not only was it simple to get this tent back in it’s storage space bag, I was able to place THAT back in the box that it came in!
And the carry bag. Even the bag is well intended! It has a full part zipper (reflect of your ordinary gym duffel bag, only longer). It’s larger than it wants to be, so it’s simple to get the tent back in. And, if you have a hard time getting the air out of it, and CAN’T zip it, there are straps with buckles, so you can belt the top, then cinch down the buckles to tighten the bag enough to zip it up.

I chose this tent for 3 reasons: 1) it sets up easily. 2) it’s tall (I’m six feet tall). 3) it doesn’t cost an arm & a leg.
This is my third – or possibly fourth – Coleman tent. I’ve never had harms with them leaking, never had a zipper fail, never had broken poles.

I gave it four stars instead of five for two reasons. If not for these two (albeit rather insignificant) modest fine points, I would give it five stars and then some.
FIRST: 2 storage space pockets. It’s a 6 man tent (in scheme). Why only two measly pockets? There is a hook sewn into the peak, to hang a lantern, which is nice.
SECOND: the door is square at the underside, making a “confront”. Since zippers don’t like corners, they used two zippers. One zipper goes crosswise the underside, the additional zipper goes crosswise the top & down the side. Well, there’s a gap. It’s a tiny gap, but how much room do spiders, ants or ticks need? Everywhere I camp, there are bounty of ticks & poisonous spiders. My new tent has a spider-sized doggy-door.

All-in-all, I have to give Coleman a thumbs up on this tent. In fact, I’ve already talked two broadcast into buying this model tent, and I’ve only had it for 3 days.
And to whomever calculated the setup assembly, a high-five, hug, and dinner :)

With receiving the tent by UPS, my wife and I set it up in our family room, just for do and to see how simple it really was. Initially time out of the box it took us about a minute and a half to set up. That, of way did not contain stakes and guy shape. It took us about 5 summary to take it down, primarily because we didn’t get the air out on the initially attempt and had to open it back up and do it over again. But we finally got it back in the case.

Initially time out in the field, it was my 13 yo grandson and I background it up. It took a couple of summary to get it up (in a 15 mph wind with gusts to possibly 20). Then we had to struggle with the stakes. This was not the flaw of the tent – the ground was hard as a rock due to lack of rain! With staking was done and the guy shape were set, the tent was practically established even in the wind.

The only wits I gave it four stars rather than five is because the wind and the resulting rustling/flapping noise kept me wide awake a lot of the night. Once over again most of the blame for that was the weather and not the tent. I also judge there is effectively no such thing as a exact manufactured goods. This tent isn’t far from that even if.

Temps were in the high 70s/high humidity and the tent was comfortable with ample ventilation. No rain during the night.

It took my grandson and I about 2 summary to take it down (with pulling the stakes!). No harms this time with getting the tent into the case because we got the air out the initially time.

All in all, I’d say this is a very excellent tent with no major harms.
