Pretty Excellent,
I have eaten a number of these now, as well as ones from the “Mountain Household” strain. Both are very excellent. AlpineAire seems to do more exact meals-in-a-bag while Mountain Household does more of a mixture of meals-in-a-bag and side-dishes-in-a-bag (e.g., you can get a Mountain Household bag of freeze dried corn, if you want).
AlpineAire vs Mountain Household, I really don’t have a inclination.
Just for sake of sort-out a exact freeze dried food review, let me say that the only freeze dried food I tried and didn’t like was the Mountain Household “scrambled eggs with bacon”. Hooo, man, those were appalling. All freeze dried food has sort of the same feel, and it’s not an unpleasant one, and it works fine for pasta, fruit, beef and so forth but I could not get behind the eggs. This AlpineAire pack did not have whatever thing with eggs, which is doubtless just as well, but I felt I must warn you anyhow. Nothing I had from this pack was terrible. Ones I have tried:
* Beef Rotini: very excellent.
* Mountain Chili: not terrible. Not my favorite mix collectively of spices but not terrible for manufactured chili.
* Blueberry Honey Granola with Milk: surprisingly excellent. Freeze dried milk really came out pretty well. Who knew?
* Roast Beef Hash: ehhh, 6 of 10. Although to be honest, I have never liked roast beef hash anyhow.
* Cheese and Cracker Dine: really just some huge, dense crackers and a couple packets of squeeze cheese, not unlike Simple Cheese. Simple but excellent and requires no prep. Just open and eat.
* Western Stylishness Tamele Pie: very excellent.
* Apple Almond Bracing: didn’t like it. Bland. Reminded me of Quaker Apple & Cinnamon second oatmeal except with a very weak apple flavor. It was edible but I wouldn’t order a box of it.
* Bananas Care for: exceptional. Freeze dried bananas really came out really well.
* Chocolate Hazelnut Bavarian Cream: a modest eerie really but not terrible. I guess I’m not a huge fan of “chocolate” + “hazelnut”.
My only tip is to make sure you stir it COMPLETELY and leave a modest extra hot fill up in case you find out you didn’t stir it as well as you’d thought and need to add some more.
The cleverness to make a hot meal by just a cup of boiling fill up is fantastic. Fantastic shelf life so if you only go camping a couple times a year, no problem, as these can sit on the shelf for a few years.
They seem pricey but really it’s about the cost of a trip to McDonalds per meal, so it’s not that terrible for what you get.
So I in person urge getting something like this 7 day diversity pack and a Mountain Household diversity pack just to get to try a bunch of different freeze dried foods, so that you know what specifically you’d like to order more of, then come back later for what you know you like.
Also, if you’re buying freeze dried food with the intention of having an “emergency kit” of food for home, check out the Mountain Household #10 cans, which are in the end the same thing but have a shelf life of 25 years, versus these packets which have a shelf life of something nearly 4-6 years. (The cans, even if, are not preordained for camping. They are practically large.)

|Surprisingly juicy,
This is my initially experience with dried meals like this. They’re surprisingly juicy and the ingredient lists are frequently what you would guess. At the fee I paid the value is clad, too. What’s not to like?
